Here's the second installment of "Mucking Around" in my art journal. No plan, no destination - just playing in my art journal with no particular goal in mind.
This art journal page started as a "mop up" page as I was working on my lessons for 21Secrets (you can still purchase this "forever yours" class by the way - it's pretty amazing -- 21 artists share videos, techniques, tutorials, etc. for $98). The page sat idle since February, and then I returned to it to use up excess paint on my palette. It's wonderful what "mucking around" can lead to!
I used the "Becoming" stencil from StencilGirl Products for the words. |
Here's an under-7-minute video of the process - the good, the bad and the ugly! Enjoy.
You can also watch "Mucking Around in my Art Journal Volume II on YouTube here.
If you're interested in my face painting techniques, please make sure to subscribe to my newsletter. I will be launching a new online "forever yours" class soon, and newsletter subscribers will get a special discount link.
Your comments make me so happy and let me know you were here. I read and treasure every comment and will happily answer any questions as soon as I can.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous Journal page Jessica...I enjoyed this video so much! It's been a joy watching you evolve over the years. You have such a great style. This video shows the beauty and importance of keeping things loose... Great job!

It was fun to see you paint straight out of the tube! Why does this seem so daring? I use small brushes too sometimes, so I'm going to save the pallet paper and go straight for the tube. I loved seeing how your colors evolved. It's alright not to get it right before the flowers are painted!

Always fun to watch your progress on a page. I'm glad you stuck with the blue/white face. Looks great and your flowers :) Fun! soozyb @ telus dot net
ReplyDeleteLoved the process you used on this page and the face. The beauty is always stunning. ghoagland@msn dot com.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful page. I love it. It's odd how some of the most beautiful things manifest themselves when you're relaxed and just playing around, but also makes perfect sense.
ReplyDeleteLove your stencils. Thanks for the opportunity to win one. Songseeker@gmail.com :-)
Fabulous page and I love that stencil... I already have it so I'm not entering your giveaway. :)

Oh, how I enjoyed your free-flowing process and how you didn't just use regular skin tone on her!

This was so much fun to watch. It's somewhat the way I paint. I am following on IG and won your piece through jennibellie. It is so different than the drawing you are putting on IG. You are certainly multi talented!
