Age is Just a Number, or is It?

This summer I will turn 55.   I know!  Who would have thunk it!  I remember when I was in 5th grade and we had to calculate how old we'd be in the year 2000.  When I did the subtraction and got the number 42 -- I thought - wow, I'll be so old.  But 2000 came and went, and time keeps flying...

But age is just a number, right?  You're only as old as you feel.

Many people don't like to reveal their age.  They keep having anniversaries of their 29th or 35th or 45th birthdays.  Not me.  I say, CELEBRATE!  (After all, consider the alternative!)

"To some people, age is just a number.  To others, it's a precious gift."

You are a young thing - I am 61. Some days I feel a lot older, other days I can't believe I am this old.

  9. I feel the passing of time more acutely as I watch our sons quickly grow up before our eyes! I feel the same as always even though I am several years old than my mom was when I married! I remember when I thought that 27 was so old and that was 19 years ago!! Thanks for your continued inspiration and your great art!

  13. How beautiful -- so vibrant and alive! Yes, age really is just a number, just like new year's is just a number -- we need to celebrate every single day, every NOW.

  14. Love your adorable page, Jessica!

I really admire how you combine writing with scraps, vibrant colours and painted shapes and textures! I agree that age is just a number - you are as old as you feel inside (well, that can sometimes actually be older than the real age *lol - but I hope it is the opposite way most of the time ;).

Thank you for your wonderful entry with our challenge at TioT!

    Hugs,

  19. What you said is absolutely true. Age and number are related psychologically. There is no point in wasting the present thinking about how old one is getting.Great page, Love the colors and all the ephemera you have added to it.

  22. I struggled when I hit 40 - made very hard work of it for myself. Then I stood back and took a look at how stupid I was being. As you say, consider the alternative! I'm now approaching 50 (next year) and hey, bring it on!!

    Stunning artwork.

  28. I love those gorgeous bright colors. Very exciting. Years ago I wondered if I'd even be around when the year 2000 rolled in since I was born in 1934. That meant I'd be 65 on January 1, 2000, and I knew 65 was old.

  35. I wake every day thankful that I get another to enjoy! And have been doing it now for very very close to 72 years! (June)... My aunt who is 94 in May say's age is "just a number"... I love life so much! Your art's bright colors are one reason why! Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy! And when something interferes with being able to enjoy, gives hurt or pain to body or soul, know that we do get through those rough patches too ... in time ... we do!
Wishing you a fun filled happy Saturday! Shabat Shalom! ;-)
