Positive Affirmation mixed media tags - Sherry Canino Creative Team Thursday

Hi Creative friends!  Sherry Canino here for the Jessica Sporn Designs Creative Team.  For those who know me you know I just love to create tags.  Tags are a fun way to make a “mini” art piece especially when you don’t have lots of time.  Plus, creating tags gives me an opportunity to have something to “giveaway” (one lucky commenter will win these 3 tags details at the end of the post).

I have chosen to create some positive affirmation tags this week in my video tutorial, because we can all use some positive inspiration in our lives.  So come along with me and let’s create some uplifting tags together.

Stencils used in this project are:
Cascading Leaves
Sacred Words and Marks

Stamps used:
Whimsy Butterflies

To win the tags:

Creative Team All Stars

Today marks the halfway point of the 10-month term of the members of my Creative Team.  I am so in love with these women and their creations.  So I thought I'd flash back to their earlier posts you might have missed. Each post has video tutorials.  Enjoy!

Kristin Van Valkenburgh started us off in September with an ingenious way of keeping track of her stencils and stamps.

For her first post, Karen Gaunt used masking fluid to create this beautiful art journal spread.

How about creating unique coasters for outside and inside entertaining?  Emma Tildesley created gorgeous ones and has a video tutorial in this post.

Creating project life, journaling or artist trading cards is easy with Sherry Canino showing you how.  Check out these colorful beauties and Sherry's terrific tutorial.

Marit Barentsen gave us a fantastic tutorial on creating a gelli printed art journal spread.

Denise Alloca used inspiration from Matisse to create this gorgeous art journal page.

And Lizzy Wurmann created this gorgeous abstract collage.  Her video tutorial is as stunning as her page.
Please have fun checking out the wonderful videos and tutorials by these 7 amazing creatives!  #ilovemycreativeteam!

How to: Seasonal Art Journal Page - Creative Team Thursday with Karen Gaunt

Hello everyone! It’s Karen here again for another creative team post for Jessica! A snippet of a song heard when I was out shopping inspired this month’s project. It’s often the way with me, my muse strikes me at the strangest of times!

I’m using The Byrds song “Turn Turn Turn” as inspiration for this seasonal page. I think we are all dreaming of the change in the seasons at this time of the year so it is certainly on my mind just now.

The following stencils and stamps from Jessica Sporn Designs were used to create this art journal page:

I’ve made a video of my process below so I hope you enjoy watching!

Karen Gaunt is a mixed media artist with a passion for color and a soft spot for paint. She works in a regular job full time and daydreams all day about the moment she can let loose in her journals in the evening. She's a mother as well and loves nothing more than creating with her daughter in their matching art journals. Karen believes that making Art is for everyone and loves to encourage and inspire others to make. She enjoys trying new techniques and colors and believes that there is no such thing as too many art journals.  Visit her at her blog and on Instagram.

Marble and Stencils: Four Ways - Creative Team Thursday with Lizzy Wurmann

Hello everyone!

It's Lizzy with you today. I will be showing a very old technique which I like so much for its results. It's my first time marbling with stencils and I really loved how it turned out. I finally got to do three cards and one wall hanging.

Stencils used:

Five Hamsas Stencil

Stamps used:

Here's a video so you can see how I created this marbled paper step by step.  Click here to watch it on YouTube.

I did this card with the above marbled paper

I chose one of the marbled Hamsas to make a wall hanging

With leftover pieces and a contrasting color, I did this second card. I cut diagonal stripes and used the stamp "Shalom" which means "Peace" in Hebrew
I left two marbled papers to stencil over them and here is how the third card came out

Here I used the Calligraphy Stencil with gold crackle paste

to create a card.  The "Mezuzah" is a symbol of protection and it's used in every main door of the Jewish house.

Thank you so much for watching!  To check out more awesome creative team posts and videos, please click here, or subscribe via YouTube.
