This is another entry in the "Mucking Around in my Art Journal" series. But this one has a twist. I was truly stumped and couldn't find a "jumping off" point. My usual Pinterest Board resource of prompts wasn't doing it for me. And so I turned to YouTube, and found this wonderful video by Ronda Palazzari, who did a two page spread using string.
That video completely inspired me, and provided me with the jumping off point I needed.
Here's my process, start to finish, in an under 6 minute fast forward video. In total, I played around with this spread for about two hours in the course of two days.

So many artists give freely of their time and talent on YouTube. Use their inspiration as jumping off points and live inspired!

ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Lisa. I so appreciate it.
DeleteWatched the video and enjoyed it a lot. Watching the order in which you do things, add layers, choose colors... it is all informative. There were times I saw you make a change in direction and I wondered to myself why not go straight to the end result? Then I realized that we often don't know what we want it to be until we react to something we tried earlier. That is one of the things I really love about mixed media, but it is also something that I forget and need to be reminded of. Thanks for making this video. It has inspired me.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynda - it's so true that we usually do our best work when we don't know where we're going!
