Samy and I are preparing to go back to Guatemala on June 18. I am so excited to see the families we sponsor, our godchild, and our friends. I think of them often - they have so little, and yet are so joyous.
Here is a video fast forward of how my page came to be:
These faces seem timeless -- they came to me from other worlds.
"Children will not remember you for the material things you provided, but for the feeling that you cherished them."
This I believe. (This piece is available for sale as a print or stretched canvas from Society 6.)

Thank you for visiting! I read and treasure every comment and will answer any questions as quickly as I can.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE that portrait of those children and the quote you chose. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteLovely work!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful journal page and wonderful faces and quote. I think they have joy because they don't have all the material distractions that we do that take s away from what's really important: faith , family and friends

ReplyDeleteI am mesmerized watching your video of how you create! In awe! It's a tutorial if my brain can take in those steps to follow. Will you make prints of this, or cards? I'd love to own it. How much $$$? Just beautiful. How you write in paint is amazing too.

ReplyDeleteWOW, I love everything about this - your piece is just gorgeous - and the inspirations are equally stunning ;) Your trip sounds absolutely amazing, I hope you have so much fun, xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou have an extraordinary way with colour and design Jessica. This has something of a look of Russian dolls about it - the largest protecting the smaller ones. As someone who has spent a lifetime surrounded by and involved in education I can tell you in my experience your sentiment is utterly true.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Jenny x
A beautiful page and a wonderful quote. Reminded me of Russian dolls too. Thanks for submitting to the vintage challenge at Artful Times.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Neet xx
Jessica,
ReplyDeleteAll of the children are so adorable, including Sammy! I also felt a sense of Russian nesting dolls each protecting and cherishing the other. I like how each person is so connected to the other! The colours really symbolize the happiness you mentioned! You are so right about children remembering the time not the the things!
Once again, thanks for sharing your process. I love the music at the start of each of your videos, it is so cheerful and motivating to get busy and create!
Renee
