Creative Team Roundup and Giveaway Winner

Today marks the "one month from the end point" of the 10 month term of the members of my Creative Team.   I am so in love with these women and their creations.  I thought I'd flash back to some of my favorites of each of their posts.  Each post has a video or step out tutorial, and the caption under each photo takes you straight to that artist's blog.  Enjoy!

Marit Barentsen

As many of you know, the journey of immigrants, and especially refugees and the undocumented, is near and dear to my heart.  So I absolutely loved Marit's beautiful fold out card, with immigration as its theme.  

Karen Gaunt

I used to work in old books all the time.  I was reminded of that by this gorgeous post and tutorial by Karen Gaunt.  

Sherry Canino

Sherry Canino used lots of different stencils to create these positive affirmation tags.  What a great idea to make them and have a bunch handy for giveaways, gifts, and happy mail!

Denise Alloca

Check out this beautiful canvas that Denise created, using different stenciling techniques and lots of love for her daughter.  

Lizzy Wurmann

I love the way Lizzy Wurmann assembles her collages.  She used Citra Solv to great effect in this beautiful creation. 

Kristin Van Valkenburgh

And last but not least, see how Kristin created this very quick and easy tank top -- simple yet stunning.

New Stencil Release!

Mixed Media Resist: Vaseline & Stencils - Creative Team Thursday with Kristin Van Valkenburgh

It’s my turn again! And I can’t wait to share with you an old-ish technique that I’ve been experimenting with lately.

Like many of us, I’ve been in love with Mixed Media for what seems like a lifetime and as a result, there aren’t any tips or techniques I haven’t tried. I love anything that creates texture or visual interest, and will literally swoon over something as simple as messy cracks or crevices on a project or page.

One of the first Mixed Media processes I learned that creates cracks and crevices is the “Peeling Paint” technique which uses Vaseline as a resist. Have you ever tried it? It’s quick, easy and uses what you already have in your medicine cabinet.

But. . . . I’d never experimented with pushing it through anything - not to mention a stencil - before now. To be honest, I wasn't even sure it would work! But work it did, and I must say, the results are pretty cool.

How to: Resist Technique - Creative Team Thursday with Emma Tildesley

Hi it’s Emma again!

So, in my second tutorial for Jessica Sporn Designs Creative Team, I decided to share one of my favorite techniques with you using the Lacy Lotus Repeat Stencil.  

It's a simple resist technique, but one that I really enjoy, which adds a wonderful resist effect background for your art journal pages.
