Boho-Chic Journal Cover by Lizzy Wurmann G., Creative Team Thursday

This is my last post for Jessica Sporn Designs. I want to thank all the team for being so supportive and generous and especially to Jessica for choosing me.

This time I created a journal cover out of an old book. I started by covering everything with black gesso.

Then I chose this beautiful whimsical tree stencil- Judy'sTrees Stencil as my focal image

Covering completely with black gesso too

I rolled magazine paper in different lengths to embellish the cover and applied black gesso again

When everything was dry, I sprayed it with three different pinkish colors by Lindy's Stamp Gang

At this point, I was about to apply white gesso but decided to leave it as you see

Time to paint the tree

As I used cardboard, I felt there was too much dimension so I peel it leaving a thin layer of paper and mounted it on thin cork (which you won't see because I ended covering it with Golden Mica)

To mount it I used two pieces of the cardboard to level the image with the book

I hope you'll have some inspiration to alter any old book you have.

Until next time!
Lizzy

Mixed Media Paper Quilt by Lizzy Wurmann - Creative Team Thursday

Hi all, it's Lizzy with you today with a fun project to try.

I wanted to create a quilt with my own patterned paper, so I stenciled over previously painted papers and cut 1.5 and 2 inch squares to start making the design.

To make it easier for me, I traced a diagonal on the cardstock and then I glued one square on each side of that line and from there, I started gluing one on each side of those until I completed the page.

My plan was to make a card with the small panel and leave the big one for other projects cutting it into stripes, circles or squares or leave it as it is to use it as a base for a journal page or a collage.

Follow along with my video YouTube to see how I created this paper quilt step-by-step.

"Frightfully Fall" Blog Hop Featuring the Creative Team and a Giveaway!

Hi all!  I'm so excited because it's the FIRST blog hop with members of the Jessica Sporn Designs Creative Team.

Today I'm hopping along with

to share some fall creations using my stamps and stencils.

I hope you've been enjoying the Creative Team posts - I know I have! Here's a chance to see five of these amazing artists all at once!

AND....

We have a great giveaway - one lucky commenter will win my Cascading Leaves stencil and Tree of Life stamp.

All comments on all the blog hop posts count - so make sure to visit everyone and leave some kind words for a chance to win!

Without further ado, here's my project!

I have TOO MANY canvas bags from various retreats.  I decided to re-purpose one for my daughter to use on Halloween (instead of a pillowcase!).    I started out by loosely painting DecoArt fabric paint in yellow and orange on the bag, using a foam roller.

I then used red paint and my Lacy Lotus stencil to create a background.

I used my Shiva stencil to create a strong focal image, and the Borders stencil for a top border.

On the other side, I used the Horned Owl stencil for my focal image.

I stamped the straps using my Mercurial Mercury and Topsy Topiary stamps from Rubbermoon.
Check out the whole process in this 3 minute video.

(See more videos and examples of how I used the Shiva stencil  and Horned Owl stencils.)

I hope this gave you some ideas to kickstart your fall crafting.

Now, hop over to

to see their fall creations!

Remember, all comments on all the blog hop posts count!    Comments close at 9PM EST on Monday, October 10/10, and I'll announce the winners in my Tuesday blog post on 10/11.
