Cascading Leaves Stencil Test Drive

It's time for another Stencil Test Drive featuring the Cascading Leaves Stencil and the amazing art of:

As always, I am so honored that these talented artists agreed to "drive" my stencil!

This is one of my "go to" stencils for a variety of effects.  Stenciling tone-on-tone with it on a background adds interest to an art journal page without making it busy:

It's great for adding subtle texture.  I used it on the roof of this canvas:

For this test drive, I used it with fluid acrylics and deli paper to create leaves (what a surprise!) for this piece:

I created this design almost entirely from painted deli paper!  See the process in this video:

Thanks for watching!  I can't wait to see what:

did with the Cascading Leaves stencil.  Each time there's a test drive, I'm amazed at what my sister artists do with my stencils!

On another note, I am THRILLED to announce that in October 2014, I will be teaching 2 workshops for Art is You!

I loved attending Art is You in Nashville, look forward to attending in Stamford in October 2013, and am so happy to join the teaching family in 2014!

If you can't wait until October 2014 (and who can??), there are still some spots left at my classes this Sunday at the Ink Pad in NY,  Manage Your Mediums:

and  Be the Boss of Your Stencils:

Thank you for visiting! I read and treasure every comment and will answer any questions as quickly as I can.

Linking to Paint Party Friday.

  3. Super video, I love the way your canvas came together. The paved heart walkway is very cool and your stencil is awesome. I haven't yet perfected the art of using tissue paper and deli paper yet, it never wants to go translucent for me for some reason. Lol... Great job Jessica, I'm off to visit the other ladies blogs.

  15. Your colours are so rich! I love the effect tissue paper gives . By deli paper, do you mean waxed paper as well? Congrats, on your new teaching adventure. I had no idea until recently that such art weekends existed. I really appreciate your how-to videos! Thanks for taking time to create and share!

    1. Deli paper is actually not waxed... it's the type of paper used to wrap sandwiches in delicatessens - hence the name. I think it is also called parchment paper in some places... Hope you can make an art retreat one day. I only learned of them recently as well!
