Today was the first day of my friend Carolyn Dube's FREE online workshop: Use Your Words.
To celebrate and commemorate, here's Face #11, entitled "Use Your Words!"
Thank you for visiting!
I read and treasure every comment and will answer any questions as quickly as I can.
To celebrate and commemorate, here's Face #11, entitled "Use Your Words!"
The letters in her hair are from Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions Stencil - Letter Jumble (9x12) at the Funkie Junkie boutique! She started with a nose (which ended up being rather long), inspired by this spark of "artspiration" from Carolyn's newsletter. Can you see the nose too? (My daughter Samy saw a leg from behind.)
Today the snow started melting. But despite all the shoveling, it was quite glorious over the weekend. Not so much for my friends in Connecticut and Massachusetts. But Samy and Freddie had a good time!
another beautiful face!
ReplyDeleteDear Jessica,
ReplyDeleteI love this face with words and letters, and I love the colors you used. Every day a new idea. How beautiful.

Love her lettering hair...Fun face for Carolyn's Use Your Words.....xox
ReplyDeleteThat's funny! I couldn't see a nose, but I saw a leg from behind right away ... Lovely face, and geez, that is a LOT of snow!
ReplyDeleteShe's a beauty Jessica! I need to get something done for carolyn's and for your challenges yet-WIPs for now. We were very lucky with the storm-only 4" in our area-yay!
ReplyDeleteHi Jessica: What a piece of art! I love the intensity of it and the way the two of you saw different things within it. I must pop over and see this site; I too see something completely different. Your interpretation is wonderful. The ability to draw faces (ugh) is an artform in itself to be envied! I really enjoy the earthiness you surrounded her with...the yellows really stand out as vibrant and how wonderfully cool to put the letters in her hair. I am miffed by dark colors to shade and yet see it all over people's art. I don't know for the life of me how to do a face yet love the dark color shading...but my two brains go "huh?" There is a collision within me! lol But it works I love it! Clay - reminds me of P.E.I. sand...pure beauty! Jessica - thanks for your comments on my art on violence. A heavy piece of art and much appreciated that you saw that with purity. Lovies, Samara
ReplyDeleteI am in the free class to, love the way you incorporated the letters into the hair, and the color is great, I just happen to love this one
ReplyDeleteNow my mind is having a battle between a leg and a nose as to which one it sees when I look at it...all the letters in her head make me think of all times we have lots happening in our minds- and her touch of a smile makes me think it is something good on her mind! We're kind of sad out here that we only got rain- the kids really wanted some snow days!
ReplyDeleteNow wait just a minute... I thought I had my favorite hair in the last post (I am working backwards!) but now this one is a very close rival.... LOVE how you stenciled in it and those lips really seem to be holding a secret.
ReplyDeleteI love this and definitely want to come back and study it more.
