Stencil Girl & Walnut Hollow

If you're hopping along, you've arrived here from Julie Snidle's blog.  Because today is the Stencil Girl blog hop using products from Walnut Hollow!  And there's a big giveaway - details at the end of this post.

Since I was once a decorative painter, I know that stencils are NOT just for art journals and canvases; it was fun to have a chance to use them on something completely different!

Here are the 5" High letters I received from Walnut Hollow.

"Breathe" is one of my words for 2014 - a reminder to stop, pause, inhale and exhale.

I made a mixture of gold paint and Aztec Gold Mica powder and painted the letters.

Then, I stenciled onto tissue paper using my Borders Stencil and Medallions Stencil from Stencil Girl.   (Sometimes I like to stencil onto tissue paper rather than directly onto my substrate, because you can "audition" the placement of the images plus the tissue paper adds texture.  Here's a post with a video about stenciling onto tissue paper.)

I carefully tore the tissue paper into strips and adhered it onto the letters using Liquitex Matte Medium.

I went to Home Depot and had them cut me a piece of wood.  I sanded it, painted it with black gesso, and then gave it sheen with Liquitex Glazing medium.  Then I adhered the letters using E6000 Craft Adhesive.

My sweet husband mounted the wood on the wall in my studio, opposite my work table.  I see it every day, and it's a great reminder to stop and BREATHE

Here is the list of all the artists participating in this blog hop.  If you're following along, your next stop is my dear friend Judy Shea.   If you just happened upon my blog, definitely check out all the inspiration and creativity by this fabulous team!

Stencil Girl and Walnut Hollow are both giving away products on this blog hop. All comments on the hop are eligible for the giveaway. The more blogs you comment on, the more chances you have to win! The giveaway will close on Sunday, March 2nd at 11:59PM Central Time.

AND... I am having an additional giveaway!

I have an extra copy of my "Runes" stencil that I will give away to one commenter on my blog.  (Here's a post from Stencil Girl Talk where Leslie Tucker Jennison used this stencil.)  You have until 11:49PM EST, Sunday March 2 for this giveaway too.

Your comments make me so happy and let me know you were here. I read and treasure every comment and will happily answer any questions as soon as I can.
