New Reveal and Cyber Monday Goodies!

n*Studio CJS2018 - Let's Jump!

A few years ago, I had lost some of my creative mojo.  But then I participated in Nathalie Kalbach's Creative Jumpstart event, and got my mojo back in a big way!

I am thrilled to announce that this year, I'll be participating as one of the teaching artists in Creative Jump Start (CJS) 2018.  This is its 7th year - and once again, it's run by the inimitable Nathalie Kalbach!

I hope you'll participate in this one-of-a-kind event starting January 2018 to kick your creativity into high gear!  (Here's just some of the work I created in CJS 2016!)

Throughout January participants get access to 31 downloadable videos from 31 featured artists.  I'm proud to be one of those artists, called “JumpStarters.”

You'll learn techniques, discover new materials, connect with other artists and crafters and -- special for 2018 -- learn recipes not just for mixed media but also for your kitchen.

All of the teaching artists are sharing their favorite recipes - both in and outside the studio!!

I hope you'll head over to Nathalie's site for more details and to sign up!   This link has my affiliate code. I do earn a small percentage for everyone who signs up using my code.  So thank you in advance!
Here's why you should do this today!

CJS2018 will be available from November 27 (10am EST)  - November 29 (11.59pm EST) as a Cyber Monday Special for $40!  Afterwards it will be available for $45 through 12/31.  Beginning January 1, it will be $50.  So sign up today!  n*Studio CJS2018 - Let's Jump!

21 Secrets Art Show

It's another Tuesday!  I hope you enjoyed Memorial Day Weekend if you're in the US.  And that you had a great weekend no matter where you are!

Today I want to showcase some of the beautiful work being created in my class over at 21 Secrets.  The spring session was devoted to tools and techniques, and the tool I chose to explore was tissue paper.   Earlier this month, I shared a technique using tissue paper to add doodling to your artwork.  But my class for 21 Secrets is different and much deeper.  Look at the beautiful work being created, and the kind words being shared.

Nancy Omar

"I learned a lot with this class...how nice the oil pastels blend...what happens when you heat them. You put tissue paper shapes down and then think what now. You just start and it all seems to takeover. Anyway thanks for the class Jessica."

Pamela Vosseller

"Thank you, Jessica for the lesson. I thought I knew what I knew about tissue paper...nope... this was new and so much fun. Can't wait to try it again."

Dominique Oberhofer

"My lesson with Jessica Sporn was very very interesting.  Now I love tissue paper transparencies. Thank you Jessica"

Kate Lamontagne

"I loved Jessica's lesson on tissue paper transparencies! This will become a go-to technique for me."

Ricki Tellie Kalp

Jessica Sporn's lesson on tissue paper transparencies was lots of fun. Thanks Jessica!!"

Creating Prayer Flags, Bags and Bookcovers

On a cold Saturday, five creatives came over and we stenciled our own fabrics and made amazing creations.   Here's a re-cap - with lots and lots of eye candy!

This class was inspired by a workshop I took at Art is You in 2014, taught by Kecia Deveney and Linda Willis and called Flags of Affirmation.  You can read more about my experience in Flags of Affirmation here.  Kecia and Linda gave me permission to pass on their techniques and add my own spin.

We started off stenciling white and solid color fabrics with all sorts of beautiful colors from Deco Arts Fabric Paints.

Here is Isolina Perez's gorgeous work - how many Stencil Girl Stencils can you spot?  Isolina is a jeweler and will be teaching at Art is You this fall.  I am always so honored when other teacher's take my classes.

Sandy Grezzi used gorgeous colors to create front and back journal covers.  Sandy is a former VP with the Craft and Hobby Association turned full-time marketing consultant.  I'm happy to give her opportunities to get her hands painty.

Tery Favo concentrated on sea colored fabrics for a purse she's making.  She's a former doll maker and jeweler.  She brings the best snacks and always has the best creative ideas.

Jodi Oster created a beautiful cover for her art journal.  You can see more of Jodi's beautiful folk art on Etsy

Here I am sewing up Isolina's beautiful prayer flag banner.  My daughter Samy peeked in.

Here's how Isolina's banner looked all stitched up.  So beautiful!

Brigitte ended up with a beautiful bag, and lots of stenciled fabric to play with at home.

and I finally finished sewing a mat for hot platters.  I've been working on it forever!  We had a wonderful time together!

The deadline to apply to my Design Team is May 1!  I hope you'll check out the requirements and apply.
