Surrounded by Love

If someone were to ask me "what is the most important ingredient for living a creative life?" ...

I would have to answer...

that you must surround yourself with people who believe in your dreams, and are willing to give you the space to let your creativity grow and flourish.

You can have the best supplies, talent, studio, vision, etc., but if the people in your life don't give you the space to create, and believe in your creativity, you won't thrive.

I am lucky to be surrounded by family and friends who believe in and nourish my creativity, and give me the space I need to create.  Thank you!  I have also, over time, cultivated the wisdom to let go of people who don't.   And for that wisdom, I am grateful.

Working in my art journal with collage, paint, pastels, and Pam Carriker's poetic portrait stamps:  Cordelia and Ophelia.

Linking to One Little Word - Surround and  Collage Obsessions (choose one word)

Thank you for visiting! I read and treasure every comment and will answer any questions as quickly as I can.

  8. I love this piece. Your words are so true and comforting. I am a widow and live alone. I eat on a TV tray because my dining room table is where I create and I love it. I sit on my couch and sketch faces. I realized that my whole house is me studio and I love it that way. Thank you for being such a kind inspiration.

  9. I love this stamp image. So true about the support around us. I love that we all inspire each other as friends. Yes, letting go of the non-supporters is true or even the ones that bring you down. Life is too short for that.

  10. I love this page, Jessica, and your message even more!! It is so very true in my life, too. Although my house is now empty, save for my husband and dog Jake and me, and I pretty much can create any time I feel like it, I feel like it even more when Russ asks me when he calls at noon each workday, are you working in your studio? He also appreciates my work, as does my daughter and my artsy friends, who encourage me by their visits to my blogs! I also appreciate special friends like Corrine, whom I met in real life and who said to me, "Everyone who paints faces once painted a face for the first time. You can do this!" Bless you all! Mwah!
