Zetti art journal page with stencil & stamps - Creative Team Thursday

Hi - It's Marit here for Jessica's Creative Team.  It may have to do with the Spring season; sunny days and Summer laying on the horizon and all: I am all into creating funny collages lately. I especially like to create "Zetti" characters.

For those who don’t know what I am talking about, I found this definition online: "Zetti (aka Zettiology) is a folk art style originated by Teesha and Tracy Moore. There's no real definition, but there are some common characteristics such as static faces, striped legs, shapes for bodies, bright colours, found images, objects and papers, and lots of pointy hats."

Jessica's stencils and stamps are ideal to use on a 'Zetti page' because her stencils, combined with bright colored ink, make for an interesting and happy background.
The stamps add extra images to complete the funny, whimsical and weird pages.

Are you in for creating a fun Zetti page too? The video takes you through my creating process from the blank page right to the finished page.

I would love to see your Zetti page so if you make one, comment here with a link and I will come visit you. Have fun creating!

Marit Barentsen is a passionate art journaler, mixed media artist, art instructor and creative writer from the Netherlands. Marit inherited a passion for words from her mother, who is a writer. Her father taught her to not only “look “ but also “see.”  That combination led Marit to become an art teacher and her art always showed images and words. After art school, she worked as a graphic designer. Years later, she re-discovered the  combination of words and images in art journaling and her art took flight.  Marit's art has been published in various magazines and art books.

  1. What an awesome tutorial! I haven't made a "zetti" page in a long time - and I'm definitely inspired to now! I love how you used the tops of the buildings to create your border. The stamping is so beautifully integrated into your whole piece. And the quote and your lettering are just perfectly aligned with your image. Brava!
