Do you know the
feeling that the world seems to change more rapidly when you get older? Or
maybe it was the gray and drizzling weather in the Netherlands that brought me
in a sentimental mood... whatever the reason was, I felt the need to make an
art journal page about the 'good ol' days.' I grew up in a small village where
women still wore traditional costumes and horses were used to cultivate the
lands... Life was slow and easy when I was a kid.
I noticed that
Jessica's stencil "Dots & Dashes" shows a similarity with the
edge that used to frame old photo negatives.
That was the starting
point to look for old photos and create an art journal spread in black and white,
to emphasize the 'good old times.'
I also like the look
of gesso smeared through a stencil - you get the most wonderful texture on the
pages - so I used another stencil, "Circles & Squares", to add
that effect to the page.
In the end, my art
journal spread got that old fashioned look that I was looking for.

What an amazing post Marit. I love how you used the stencil to give an old world - negatives - feel to your pictures. I enjoyed hearing more about your childhood memories. And that video - wow! Loved the music and filter. Super cool! props to your husband!
