How to: Mini Journal - Creative Team Thursday with Lizzy Wurmann

Hi everyone! Lizzy with you again with another project for Jessica Sporn Designs.

Today I will show you on a video how I did a "mini journal" out of a catalog and watercolor paper.

For the cover I also used a catalog scoring 1/2" on its spine to insert the journal. I like the dimensions, each page is like a large tag.

For the cover I used Jessica's Medallions Stencil over a Gelli print.

You can see how I created this mini journal step-by-step on YouTube by clicking here.

Collage Sheets are by Mary Jane Chadbourne and Nancy Baumiller

On this page I used Layered Peonies Stencil

On this side  I used Squares and Circles Stencil

Until next time!

  1. Thank you Lizzie for this great tutorial. Your pages are so beautiful. I love how you built them up, and kept using the same mix of stencils to integrate your pages at each layer. I rarely work with collage this way and now I'm super inspired to give it a go!

  3. Hi - fascinated by this. I love the pages created but am a bit confused on the construction. Maybe it got lost in translation across the Atlantic ( ha ha) but did you mean catalogue as in a 'book' or was it a folded leaflet?

Did you strengthen the folds with washi tape or with masking tape or something else?

I really love the possibilities this offers for a stitched book since you assemble in layers so each layer could be done before assemblage and then only finally assembled once stitched. It's a while since I've done a book and this has given me a few ideas.
